Meet the Team

Kathleen O’Donnell – Principal Broker/Owner

Kathleen is one of Portland’s top producing brokers. Formerly a commercial broker specializing in multifamily investment properties, Kathleen began her real estate career as a licensed broker in Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia before moving to Portland in 1997.

In 2007 she founded O’Donnell Group Realty. In 2014 she opened her luxury office in Portland’s Pearl District. Working by referral, Kathleen and her brokers serve the greater Portland Metro area and specialize in relocation both nationally and internationally.

In addition to holding a Principal Broker’s License, Kathleen is a Diamond Platinum Member and Vice President of The Masters Circle (formerly The Million Dollar Club), the highest designation available, and a member of The Portland Metro Association of Realtors. She holds industry certifications as a Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), a Certified Luxury Home Marketing Specialist (CLHMS), a Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) an Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR), an Earth Advantage S.T.A.R. Broker and an E-PRO. Kathleen was also chosen by Portland Monthly as a Five Star Real Estate Agent in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016. She is dedicated to her clients, whether they are selling or buying, and works with integrity, knowledge and focus to make their experience in real estate both positive and satisfying.

Kathleen is an avid road biker and enjoys raising funds for charity by participating in long distance rides here and throughout the US. As a cancer survivor, she is also active as a fundraiser for The Knight Cancer Institute at Oregon Health & Science University.

Sarah Johnson – Broker 

Sarah’s favorite part of her job is building strong relationships with her clients to ensure a calm and smooth process for everyone involved.

By listening to her client’s needs and concerns, she can guide them through the process of buying and selling with ease. Sarah brings integrity, enthusiasm, hard work, kindness and joy to every detail of her real estate transactions.

Born and raised in Portland, Sarah knows the city and surrounding areas extremely well. A Wilson High School alum herself, her three kids are now on track to attend Wilson too, as Sarah has settled back into the SW neighborhood where she grew up.

Before moving back to Portland, Sarah and her husband moved 7 times in 8 years, so she understands the transitions of moving, finding a home and relocating, and wants to help ease that process for her clients.

When not working, Sarah can be found volunteering at her kid’s schools, in her community, and at her church. She also loves to spend time in the kitchen cooking and baking, and hanging out with friends and family. Sarah values giving back locally and globally, and a portion of all her sales go to Embrace Oregon and Haiti Foundation of Hope.

D. Kolin Better – Broker

With a wealth of experience as a builder of businesses across multiple industries, including commercial real estate, technology, and hospitality, Kolin brings to the table a calm wisdom borne of high pressure situations.

Becoming a residential real estate Broker has allowed Kolin to use his experience to impact people’s lives in a direct and personal way, cutting through the potential stress to find a smooth and seamless way forward.

Kolin lives with his wife, child, and menagerie of pets in inner Southeast Portland. When not working, he enjoys the outdoors, cooking, cocktails, sporting clays, and lacrosse.  He can also be found hopefully waiting (and waiting) for his beloved Alma Mater (Tulane University in New Orleans) to field a decent football team.

Kolin has pledged to donate a portion of every commission to the Happy Hippie Foundation, which rallies young people to fight injustice toward vulnerable populations nationwide.

Ashley Trinh – Broker / Broker’s Assistant

Ashley joined the O’Donnell Group Realty team in early 2016 as the transaction coordinator and soon transitioned into a position as the principal broker’s assistant to further her knowledge and expertise in the real estate business.

Ashley’s background includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, a Minor in Sociology, in addition to 10 years’ experience in the hospitality industry. Both endeavors have helped broaden her understanding of human relations and have perfected her skill in handling clients, understanding their individual needs, so she can act as their advocate while directing them through the transaction process.

As a Pacific Northwest Native, Ashley enjoys trips to the coast, hiking the Columbia River Gorge, and exploring Oregon’s wine country in her free time!
